REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
CLUB
BYLAWS
When K. R. Robertson gets back on his feet he will want your comments about the Bylaws he distributed in December, which you have, I am sure, reviewed as he asked. We cannot find the Bylaws for the Club and need to adopt new ones. Speaking of K.R., Jim reports that he is getting some use of his hands back.
HARVEST
FESTIVAL
Regarding the 2008 Harvest Festival, Steve advises that the Harvest Festival Committee meetings will be held as needed after our regular Rotary meetings. He indicates that all the committee chairpersons know what they have to do, so start doing it.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION
Barbara
Gaskin, Superintendent of the
Anyway, a big welcome to Barbara.
Dear friends, Saturday, March 29, 2008
It has been a while since we sent an update on Cathy and we are happy to report that Cathy has continued to improve. She is now at a point where she is basically in control of her daily activity and needs. I think it was the day after Christmas, Grace told Pam that she found some of Cathy’s medicine on the bathroom floor. After chatting with Cathy, we found out she has been throwing them away for two weeks. That medication was prescribed to her while she was still in the hospital. Cathy never felt that she needed them, but went along with the program then. We brought this issue up with her doctor during the subsequent consultation and her doctor concurred with her decision. Cathy has also retired her Ankle Foot brace around Christmas. She has been walking with us unaided since then.
Cathy now visits UCD outpatient rehab. center 5 days a week. Besides these planned rehab. activities, she also spend an additional hour daily on treadmill, stationary bike and other exercise machines. Cathy also spends an hour at home exercising her right arm, wrist and fingers. She is eating all her meals with her right hand, although it is still a struggle for her.
Cathy has been nearly completely independent for about two months now. She has been handling many of her daily chores like, baking, laundry, and even paying bills with minimal assistant. We are now only here to transport her to and from rehabilitation and grocery shopping. We have even been leaving Cathy by herself few hours a day and she loves it. Soon, we will begin leaving her by herself for the weekends and gradually continue to extend the period for her to be by herself.
We have moved yet again and here is Cathy’s new address:
3833 U Street
Sacramento, CA 95817
This house is built in 1930s and is more spacious than the duplex we had. It is in a quiet neighborhood and is closer to the UCD Med. Center and rehab. center. Cathy will be able to just walk to the hospital in the future.
We are encouraged and are excited by Cathy’s recovery, her optimism and the high goals she set for herself. We feel we are truly blessed and want to thank all our friends for your support and your prayers.
Jen, Pam, Cathy and Grace
RECOGNITIONS
Dave
Jessen elected a song for his birthday to get a $7
recognition instead of the usual $10.
But he wanted it from all the members not present. I don’t think that worked.
The
Grinder was auctioned in its absence (Tom Knowles has it and missed the
meeting). Roy Ellis took Jim Edwards off
the hook with a bid of $40. I think that
is the cheapest it has gone in a long time.
PROGRAM
Glenn Pulliam presented
Janet Brinson who spoke on the CUSD budget and the problems in funding it. Very enlightening.
DRAWING
Steve
Greenwood was here to win the “Must Be Present To Win” drawing, again.
Membership Teams
Mike Wacker reported that Team One has accumulated 6
points while the remaining teams have only 1 point each. I assume that with the induction of Barbara
Gaskins, sponsored by Jim Patterson their points have gone up, but it hasn’t
been reported to me yet.
Team One
- Captain Roy Ellis. Members, Dar Meyer, Dan Davis, Steve Plume, Norm Larson,
Jim Patterson, Dave Mulqueeney, and Glenn Pulliam.
Team Two - Captain Tod Kimmelshue. Members Steve Greenwood, Bruce Miller, Clint
Goss, Daryl Polk, Dave Jessen and Joe Nock.
Team Three - Captain Mike Wacker. Members Chris Hatch,
Team Four - Captain Jane Ziad. Members Bill Apger, Phil Price, Tom Knowles, Tom
Vanella, Andy Farrar, and Bruce Norlie.
