REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Jim Kirks, President-Elect ,is requesting that all members update their information on the Club’s web page.  The Club Secretary, K. R. , passed around printouts of each member’s information from the Club Web site which Jim asked members to correct and pass back.  Also, be prepared to have your picture taken for the web page next month.  Dan Davis’ wife will be here to take the photos.   The dates will be announced.

District Governor, Earl Kilmer has proclaimed April 24, 2010 as District Work Day.  He suggested that clubs assist with installing smoke alarms for homes in our area.  However, a check with the Durham Fire Department indicated that they have that well in hand.  So, the Board approve a clean up of main intersection in Durham.  Meet at Steves Place at 9:00 am.  Members will be providing equipment for the clean up.

The Board also approved Senior Active Honorarium status for all members that currently qualify, so those members do not have to individually request it.  The criteria for qualifying is the same as the old Senior Active Member (which no longer exists).  That is the total of your years of membership plus your age must equal or exceed 85.  See the Rowel for February 2nd for a complete explanation.  Those members must now introduct themselves by using “Senior Active” followed by their classification.  But only at our meetings.  It will not be recognized at other clubs.

Roy Ellis reported that one of our former Camp Royal attendees is now the starting center for the University of Pittsburg.  He is also rankes as the 12th best pro prospect at center.

District Assembly

President Elect Jim Kirks announced that there will be a District Assembly on March 20th.  All should attend.  In particular, new members and officers should attend.  See the information below.

RECOGNITIONS

President Elect Jim noted that Clint Goss, Dave Jessen, K. R. Robertson and Tom Vanella all had anniversaries this month listed on the Club Web site, even though they also had them last month or before.  He was wondering if they had more than one wife.  Phil Price disclaimed any responsibility for the calendar maintained by Jen Liu on the web site.  This is why we need to get all the member information updated.

Dar Meyer was recognized for retiring.  He contributed $44 to the Club Foundation.  He later added another $16, for missing a meeting while playing golf in Texas, to become a triple Bell Ringer.

Chris Hatch contributed $10 for missing the last meeting.

Tom Vanella contributed $5 simply to become a Bell Ringer.

President Elect then called Red Badge member Dan Driscoll up to the podium and presented him with his Blue Badge, which cost Dan $15.

President Elect tried to do the same for Travis Edsall, however his name was backwards on his new Blue Badge.  So he remains a Red Badge member until a new Blue Badge can be obtained.  K. R. contributed $5 for the error.

PROGRAM

Bill Apger was responsible for the program tonight.  He not only did not produce a program, he did not show up for the meeting.  So we adjourned early.

Must be Present to Win” Drawing

Dan Driscoll was present to win the drawing of that name.
