Pres. Mike called on Clint Goss and recognized Clint for 52 years of married bliss.  Under the new rules, the recognition decreases after 50 years and Clint contributed $48.00.

Dave Jessen was recognized for 33 years of marriage and then Pres. Mike tacked on another $2 for Dave being late.  Dave contributed $35.00.

Dave Mulqueeney missed the Crab Feed as he was in Montana.  However there were white out conditions in Helena and Dave was unable to make up at the Helena Rotary Club.  Dave was recognized for $2.00.

Steve Plume was invited by Pres. Mike to tell Durham Rotarians why he purchased the Grinder for January.  Steve explained his that Durham Auto Parts Store moved to a new and improved location on the Midway and that he had acquired a new pick up truck.  Then President Mike auctioned off the Grinder for February.  The winning bid of $60.00 was made by Bruce Miller.

Dan Davis was called on to present information on Rotary Classification and how we introduce ourselves at Durham Rotary meetings.  Dan distributed a proposal for Senior Active - Honorarium.  Members will vote on the proposed addendum to Durham Rotary By-laws at our next meeting.  Please see details in the following section:

SENIOR ACTIVE HONORARIUM

(Suggest that the following be incorporated as item (A) under Article VIII of the Durham Rotary Bylaws. This would then require that what is now item (A) be relabeled to read item (B). Also, the description under Article VIII should read “Honorarium and Excused Absence”)

    (A) SENIOR ACTIVE HONORARIUM: In order to recognize the importance of retention as a valuable tool to building membership as well as honor the long term service to Rotary, the Rotary Club of Durham bestows the honorific title of SENIOR ACTIVE to any active member who has given 15 or more years of service to Rotary. This honorarium is to be used in conjunction with the member’s classification and:

            1. Applies to any Durham Rotarian who has been an active member in good standing for 15 or more years in Rotary whether or not such membership was consecutive and whether or not done in any other club other than Durham.

            2. Applies ONLY to Durham Rotary and cannot be used when visiting any other Rotary Club, District or International meeting, event or function.

            3. This is not a classification or a type of classification. It is, however a term of honor to be used only in conjunction with a Rotarian’s active classification (i.e. “Senior Active – Plumbing” or “Senior Active – Accounting”)

                        A. Cannot use the term “Senior Active” by itself

                        B. Cannot attach the term “Excused” or any other description anywhere when stating his or her classification.

            4. This honorary title will require a one time Board of Director’s approval and can be revoked any time by Board action.

PROGRAM
