The Harvest Festival was a meeting of record, so, if you missed it, President Mike will be asking you to explain.

The Harvest Festival seemed to go well.  The weather was very good, but probably could have been a little warmer.  Might have helped soft drink and beer sales.  Breakfast seemed a little slow, but lunch was crowded.  Every one there seemed to be having a good time.

From Steve Greenwood:

“Thank you all for your hard work at another successful Harvest Festival. Although the attendance was down due to the weather, I think it was a great day.”

Thank you to all members that showed up and did their job.  From where I was, it seemed to go even smoother this year.  At least from my standpoint, behind the Captain Bob.  I didn’t have to send Mike out to buy anything.

The Winners:

Casey Sohnrey, a Durham resident, won the Grand Prize of a 4 day vacation for 2 at Shelter Cove with Knowles Charter Air from Willows to Shelter Cover and return.   Casey will be present to accept her prize at our September 29th meeting.  We hope Tom will be present to give Casey her prize.

The winner of the Mexico 7 day condo prize was Kirk Michael, a farmer living in Willows.  This winner told his family that they would win the trip to Mexico.  Needless to say, they were all elated to learn that indeed they had the winning ticket.   Kirk Michael will be present to accept his prize from Bill Apger at the Sep. 29th Rotary meeting at BCCC.  I hope Bill will be able to be present to present the prize in person to Kirk Michael.

Jim Dabner, a Durham resident, won the $500 cash prize.  He will accept the prize at our September 29th meeting.

Now all the prize winners have been notified and accepted the invitation to receive their prizes at our meeting on Sep. 29th.

NEXT MEETING IS AT NOON AT CHICO ROTARY

Next Tuesday, the meeting of record for the Durham Rotary Club will be at noon at the Chico Elks Club to join the Chico Noon Club in listening to Rick King, past president of Rotary International.  This will be a meeting of record.

We will not have a meeting at the BCCC.

Group Study Exchange

A Group Study Exchange (GSE) team is arriving from Monterey, Mexico. They are firemen and paramedics.  They would like to meet with members of the Durham Volunteer Fire Department.  If anyone has a contact, please let President Mike know.  They will be attending our October 6th meeting. Chico Sunrise Rotary Club is looking for interesting things for the GSE to learn and do while in the area. Durham Rotarians were invited to contact Pres. Mike about things the GSE could do in our area.   Mike is working on having the Sunrise Club meet with us on October 6th  if they can stay up that late.

The Board of Directors has voted to approve Floyd Miller as a new member of Durham Rotary.  He is proposed by his son, Bruce Miller.  Floyd is formerly a member of Chico Rotary.  K. R. suggested that his classification be:  ‘The Glass Man”.  However, Dan Davis indicated that such would not fit within Rotary classifications.  So his classification is yet to be determined.
