REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Harvest Festival

It is that time of year again.  Steve Greenwood passed around Sponsorship forms and the list of past sponsors with the contact member.  If you are listed as a contact member you need to make that contact and get the sponsor signed up for this year.  All members should contact anyone they think might be a sponsor and get them signed up.  We need to get this done by early August so the names can get on the T-Shirts.  Contact Steve with any questions.

Board Meeting

At the conclusion of the meeting President Mike announced that he would continue with Board meetings and 5:00 p.m. before the first meeting of each month.  So there will be a Board meeting at 5:00 p.m. next week, July 7th.

District 5160 Conference

The annual District Conference will be held this year at Lake Tahoe on October 1st – 4th.   Assistant District Governor Stan Thompson encouraged members to attend.

District 5160 Installation Dinner

President Glenn began to again report that still no one had taken up the club’s offer to attend the District 5160 Awards and Installation Dinner at Rolling Hills Casino on July 11 at the Club expense. (See the district website for more information).  But Dave Mulqueeney spoke up and accepted the offer.  He and Chris will attend.

Past International President to Speak at Chico Rotary

All members are urged to hear former RI President Rick King when he speaks to the Chico Noon Rotary Club on Tuesday, September 22nd.   The Board of Directors voted to make this a meeting of record.

River Cats Rotary Night

There will be Rotary International night at the River Cats game on August 9th.  This is a Polio Plus fund raiser.

RECOGNITIONS

President Glenn, who announced at the beginning of his term that he would make up for Daryl being nice and keeping the recognitions down, wasn’t done yet.  He pointed out to Steve Greenwood that for an addition $5 he could become a double Bell Ringer.  He did.  He then suggested to both K. R. Robertson and Dave Jessen that each were short $12 to become Bell Ringers.  Both contributed.

He then recognized Jane Ziad who admitted to having been in Ottawa Canada for the last few weeks.  She has also become the Area Director for the Girl Scouts.  She contributed $38 to become a Bell Ringer.

Steve Plume then auctioned the Grinder.  Dar Meyer got it for only $40.

PROGRAM

The program was Past President Daryl Polk conducting the demotion of President Glenn.  He had a number of photographs of world leaders showing that none wore shorts until the current president.  He then presented a Past President Plaque to Glenn and a pair of Rotary Shorts.  K. R. Robertson presented President Glenn with a Rotary T-Shirt to wear with the shorts.  At the conclusion President Glenn passed the Gavel and Bell to President Mike.  K. R also presented him with a Rotary T-Shirt.  The rest is in the following photographs.
