REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

District Information Meeting

There will be a District Information Exchange Meeting in Red Bluff on October 14, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  President Glenn thinks this is a meeting he and other interested members should attend, even though it is a meeting time for us.  He will be attending it with K. R. Robertson and Andy Farrar.  Anyone else who wants to attend should contact him.  Among things to be discussed are joint projects between clubs, such as the pump project which has been previously discussed, which may be too big for one club, but could be handled jointly by two or more clubs.

Since he will be gone next week, the meeting will be conducted by President Elect Mike Crump.

Treasurer’s Report

Steve Plume reported that all accounts, including the Foundation’s, combined total $34,655 less a check he just wrote to Camp Royal in the amount of $2,500.  We still have Scholarship obligations for this year of $2,000, which will be paid in January.

Christmas Party

Dave Mulqueeney with K. R.’s help are moving ahead on the planning for the Club’s Christmas Party on December 16th.  Start thinking about your donations to the Silent Auction.  Also tell your spouse about it and get in on his or her calendar now.  Let’s do a better job of getting spouses and significant others to the party.  It is also a good time to bring a guest, with spouse or significant other, who would make a good member.  That is how I got Norm in the club.

BYLAWS APPROVED

Upon a motion by K. R. Robertson, the proposed bylaws for the Club that he passed around at the last meeting, were approve upon a vote of the club.  If you didn’t read them before you voted, you had better read them now.  The now govern our club.

New Members Proposed

The following have been proposed as new members:

Ryan Sutton, Chico Nissan, Auto Sales

Angie Giuffre.

RECOGNITIONS

President Glenn  recognized Jane Ziad for her birthday, which was missed last August.  She elected not to have a song and paid $10.

President Glenn also tried to recognize Steve Plume for his birthday in September, but  Steve said he wanted Tom Knowles to sing and since Tom wasn’t here he elected to pass until next week.  Better practice up, Tom.

Then President Glenn got around to Bill Apger who missed his cooking duties at the Harvest Festival.  He agreed to contribute $100 to the Club (he was already the only Bell Ringer for the year so is now a double Bell Ringer), plus another $50 to his Paul Harris for his recent trips, including one to Mexico,.

Steve Greenwood auctioned the Grinder for the months of October and November.  Roy Ellis got it for $45, which is pretty cheap.

PROGRAM

Barbara Gaskin presented Greg Johnson of Far West Rice (and a member of the Durham School District Board).  Gregg showed slides and spoke about the Far West Rice operation near Nelson.  The operation was begun by his father, Bill Johnson, an old friend of mine.  What was fascinating about the operation was the large solar panel array which is producing much of the power the milling plant uses.

DRAWING

Dan Davis was present to win the drawing of that name.
