This was a Monday Night Football meeting.  President Glenn dispensed with all formalities.  The members enjoyed football and pizza.  I arrived 45 minutes late coming back from Yreka.  Since I am heading back tomorrow, and will be in town only one day, this will be a very abbreviated Rowel.

FUTURE MEETINGS:

September 29th: Monday Night Football at Mountain Mikes.

October 7th: Barbara Gaskin will present Greg Johnson of Far West Rice.

October 14th:  Barbara Gaskin will present Roger Aylworth of the Chico Enterprise Record.  He has a new book out and always has a funny story to tell.

October 21st:  Steve Greenwood

October 24-25:  District Conference.

October 28th:  Chris Hatch

January 24th:  Crab Feed

VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS

Visiting was Larry Bradley of the Oroville Club (formerly a member of Durham Rotary visited this meeting, and as you will see below won two quarters on the football pool).

NEXT MEETING

We will be back at the Butte Creek Country Club and back on Tuesday night.  Barbara Gaskin will present Greg Johnson of Far West Rice.

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Bylaws

K. R. passed around a new draft of the proposed bylaws for the Club.  Read them.

District Information Meeting

There will be a District Information Exchange Meeting in Red Bluff on October 14, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  President Glenn thinks this is a meeting he and other interested members should attend, even though it is a meeting time for us.  Any one who wants to attend should contact him.  Reservations must be in by October 8th.  Among things to be discussed are joint projects between clubs, such as the pump project which has been previously discussed, which may be too big for one club, but could be handled jointly by two or more clubs.

Program

The program was the football game between the Pittsburg Stealers and the Baltimore Ravens.  Pittsburg finally won in overtime.

In Dar’s absence, Kent Jackson ran the football pool.  The winners were:

First Quarter:  Larry Bradley

Second Quarter:  Larry Bradley

Third Quarter:  Bruce Miller

Fourth Quarter:  Kent Jackson

Overtime:  K. R. Robertson
