REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

District Information Meeting

President Glenn announced that there will be a District Information Exchange Meeting in Red Bluff on October 14, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  President Glenn thinks this is a meeting he and other interested members should attend, even though it is a meeting time for us.  Any one who wants to attend should contact him.  Reservations must be in by October 8th.  Among things to be discussed are joint projects between clubs, such as the pump project which has been previously discussed, which may be too big for one club, but could be handled jointly by two or more clubs.

Christmas Party

Dave Mulqueeney has volunteered to organize the Club’s Christmas Party which will be held December 16, 2008.  K. R. volunteered to help him.  Dave says that it is time to start thinking about donations to the silent auction.

PROGRAM

This was a Club Assembly on the Harvest Festival.  President Glenn turned the meeting over to Steve Greenwood.  He called on various committee chair persons to report on their parts of the Festival.  Generally the Festival went well with few problems.

Ged reported that more breakfasts were served than ever before (about 100 more), so we ran out of sausage, even though more had been ordered this year than last year.

Dave reported that we had 63 booths at the Craft Faire plus 14 in the commercial area.

Parking was to capacity and we need more helpers next year.  Discussion was had about groups we might contact to help.  Only 2 swim club members were available this year.  Steve, at the last minute, got a Magalia Girl Scout team to come down and help.

T-Shirts were sold out for the first time ever.  But, Barbara Gaskins suggests that we need more lead time on raffle ticket sales.  There were about 200 unsold tickets.

There were 261 cars entered into the car event.  It was a great success.

Glenn reported that the tri-tip lunch went well, but we sold out of hot dogs and bought more.

Dan Davis reports a preliminary gross receipt count of about $40,240.  This is not final and may increase a little.  He does not have all receipts in and cannot calculate the net profit yet.  However, it looks close to last year.

We were short on sponsorships this year.  There was a discussion about getting started earlier and getting to all who have sponsored in the past as well as developing new sponsors.

It was also agreed that we need to purchase an add in the newspaper thanking all the sponsors and listing them.  Norm Larson volunteered to be in charge of that. In fact, by the end of the evening he was named the new sponsor chairperson for next year.  Tom Vanella volunteered to help him.
