REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

                                                 HARVEST FESTIVAL

The last Harvest Festival Committee meeting was held at the Italian Cottage on the Skyway, on Thursday, September 11, 2008.  Everything seems to be going will.

Sell your Raffle tickets.  Each member is responsible to sell/buy 10 tickets for $35.  If you need more, contact Daryl at the Durham Tri Counties Bank, Barbara Gaskins or Steve Greenwood.  Steve reported that a lot of prizes have been donated.

Jim Patterson has more T-Shirts.

Jane Ziad has done a good job advertizing of the Harvest Festival on radio, television and in the newspaper.  It seems like I hear the add on the country station I listen to about every 15 minutes.

All members who carry their cell phone to keep in communications with others during the Harvest Festival need to get an updated cell phone list from Phil Price at the Harvest Festival.

NOTE:  The final Harvest Festival Work Assignment List is attached hereto.  Check it for your assignment and please be there.  Our limited membership means that everyone must pitch in to get this major project done.

NOTE:  The Saturday work schedule at the end of the Work Assignment List

RECOGNITIONS

There were none tonight.  However, President Glenn welcomed Tom Knowles back.  Tom reported that his daughter, Margaret was originally diagnosed with a usually fatal condition at her birth.  However, the tests turned out to be negative and she appears to have recovered from the disorder she originally exhibited.  She may yet have a few problems but appears to be doing well.

President Glenn also welcomed Kent Jackson back after a hiatus.

PROGRAM

Dar Meyer originally attempted to get us a visit to the Oroville Dam, however, since 9/11 it hasn’t been open to visitors.  So he got John Ford who has worked at the facility almost from the beginning.  John presented a very interesting program about the dam and its operation.

DRAWING

The program ran late and I had to leave so I cannot report who was present to win the drawing of that name.
