NEXT MEETING

Dar Meyer will present a program on the Oroville Dam.  He originally tried to get us a visit to the Dam, however, since 9/11 there are no more tours.

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

                                                 HARVEST FESTIVAL

The last Harvest Festival Committee meeting will be held at the Italian Cottage on the Skyway, on Thursday, September 11, 2008.  This meeting is three days before the Harvest Festival.  It is a must for all committee chairpersons and others interested.  The final planning will be done and late problems will be solved.

Raffle tickets will be passed out at the next meeting (September 9th).  Each member is responsible to sell/buy 10 tickets for $35.  If you want them now, contact Daryl at the Durham Tri Counties Bank, Barbara Gaskins or Steve Greenwood.

The T-Shirts were passed out to members at this meeting.  If you didn’t get yours see Jim Patterson.

Posters are available to post in your place of work.  Pick them up at the next meeting.

Jane Ziad has the advertising of the Harvest Festival on radio, television and in the newspaper all set.

All members who carry their cell phone to keep in communications with others during the Harvest Festival need to update their cell phone numbers, if they have changed since last year’s list.  Please report any changes to Phil Price.  I will have new lists to carry available at the Harvest Festival.

See the Harvest Festival Committee List for your assignment and please be there.  Our limited membership means that everyone must pitch in to get this major project done.

RECOGNITIONS

President Glenn  recognized Steve Greenwood for his 48th birthday.  Steve asked former member and visiting Rotarian from the Oroville Club to sing “Happy Birthday” to him.  Larry, our long time song leader, did.  Steve contributed $8.00.

President Glenn then recognized Dave Mulqueeney for his 61st birthday.  He opted out of a song and so paid $10.

Dan Davis explained that he missed the last meeting attending a required continuing education course.  But he made up.

Roy Ellis won a 4 Way Test coin from President Glenn.

PROGRAM

Mike Crump introduced Chris Devine, Planning Manager for the Butte County Association Governments.  He spoke about the Butte Regional Conservation Plan.  The Plan essentially covers all the lowland part of Butte County up to and including the foothill oak woodlands.  It does not include Paradise or the other mountainous regions of the County.   Under the plan land and resources will be set aside within the planning area to implement conservation measures to preserve the covered species within the area.

DRAWING

Phil Price was present to win the drawing of that name.
