REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

                                                 HARVEST FESTIVAL

The Harvest Festival Committee meeting was held at the Italian Cottage on the Skyway, on Thursday, August 21, 2008.  Things were pretty well worked out on food purchases, food prices, raffle ticket printing and prizes, parking, signage, etc.

The T-Shirts have been ordered.

RECOGNITIONS

President Glenn asked Dave Mulqueeney about missing the last meeting.  Dave reported that he entertaining grandchildren who were in town.  He contributed $10 for missing the meeting and another $40 for his upcoming anniversary.

President Glenn then recognized Daryl Polk for missing the last meeting.  Daryl contributed $10 for that and another $10 for his birthday.

Bill Apger missed the last meeting having such a great time backpacking that he contributed $100 to become the first Bell Ringer for the year.  Fortunately the Bell hadn’t been  stolen yet so he could ring it.  I wonder how bad the member who stole it feels about it not being available for anyone else to ring it.

Tom Vanella contends he made up his missed meeting in Oregon.

Mike Crump missed the last meeting because he was at the Paradise Recreation and Park District to get money (for the County,  I assume).

Norm Larson missed the last meeting because he was being awarded his 50 year pin at the Masonic Lodge.  He contributed $50 for the 50 years.  Congratulations, Norm.

After hearing of all the missed meetings and the few that were made up, Assistant District Governor, Stan Thompson, of the Chico Club urged members to make up meetings and other clubs in the area.  He pointed out that visiting other clubs is a great way to learn about how other clubs do things and a great way to get programs for our club.

PROGRAM

Norm Larson filled in for the missing program by talking about our international project of the last few years.  He reported that Sister Marie and Rosie, after visiting Peru, had visa problems and have not been able to return here yet.  Rosie is in Peru and Marie is in England.  He expects both to get the visa problems resolved and be back here soon.  Mean time he receive letters from the Director of the home for homeless children our money goes to help.  They are in Spanish but are thanking us.  Norm passed them around along with photographs of the children and the home.  Some of the photos are included below.
