NEXT MEETING

Andy Farrar will present U. S. Congressional Representative Wally Herger.  Andy suggests that any spouses interested be invited.

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

President Glenn announced that the Board, at its monthly meeting voted to raise the club dues from $100 to $110 beginning January 1, 2009.  The reason is that Rotary International dues and District dues have increased.  The increase in club dues is just to cover the increase in those dues.

DISTRICT FOUNDATION FAIRE

Mark von Hoetzendorff, District 5160 Foundation Director announced the District Foundation Faire. Speakers at the Faire will be very successful Rotarians from our District and D5170 who will share their "Secrets to Success." and some of the journeys they have taken and why those journeys are important to you as a Rotarian.

The "Faire" will be held Saturday, August 23rd at the Fairfield Hilton. The agenda and registration form are attached at the end of this Rowel.

For those of you who may be staying overnight, the Hilton Garden Inn is pleased to offer a special room rate of $109 for Friday, August 22.

To get this special rate, please contact the hotel by AUGUST 15. Call the hotel at 707-426-6900 and let them know you’re with Rotary District 5160.

There are only 10 rooms available at this rate. The rooms will be released August 16, so be sure to call by August 15.

Tom and Sarah Knowles

The latest report is that Tom and Sarah’s new baby girl appears to have recovered from the serious problems she appeared to have been born with.  She was taken off of life support and began breathing on her own.  She has been taken home.  Test reports have been good, but she may not be out of the woods yet.  Please remember them in your prayers.

                                                 HARVEST FESTIVAL

Phil Price (that’s me) reported that he has done his annual inventory of the various paper and plastic products (knives, forks, spoons, plates, beer glasses, etc., non-dairy creamer, cream, non-sugar sweetener packet, salt, pepper, etc.) he brings to the Harvest Festival.  There is substantially less there than there usually is at this time, and substantially less than at the end of the Festival last year.  Some of these items are now being used for the Crab Feed and the Carnitas Feed.  If anyone has any of these items which haven’t been returned after these events, please leave them at my office at 466 Vallombrosa Ave.  I will be buying replacements in the next few weeks.

RECOGNITIONS

President Glenn asked Barbara Gaskin about missing the last two meetings.  She reported that she was attending School Board meetings, but they now have two good new principals.  She contributed $20.

President Glenn then asked Mike Wacker about his missing club badge.  Mike reported that it just disappeared.  He contributed $20 for the new badge President had for him.

Dan Davis was doing a favor for his in-laws last week.  He will make up.

Ged   Andrusaitis reported that he was in Detroit visiting family.  He contributed $10.

Dave Mulqueeney reported that he was doing mid-year inventory.  But he did go to Oregon three weeks ago so he contributed $20.

President Glenn then volunteered $27 for his 27th anniversary.

PROGRAM

In Bill Apger’s absence, Ged Andrusaitis introduced Dino Corbin who is President of the Stansbury Preservation Association, in addition his news media involvement.

Dino present a very interesting program with photographs about the recovery of a large amount of Dr. Stansbury’s medical instruments and medicines which had ended up on the Columbia (California) State Park.  Those medical instruments from around the turn of the last century look more like instruments of torture.  They are on display at the Stansbury House, mostly in the Annex.

DRAWING

K. R. Robertson was present to win the drawing of that name.  Since it hadn’t been won in three weeks he got $30.
