When K. R. PROGRAM

Dar Meyer arranged for thy meeting to be in the Rural Northern California Simulation Center which is located in the old Chico Community Hospital building.  The meeting began with an introduction by Jan Ellis, Roy’s wife.  The Becky Damazo, RN (CSUC nursing professor) presented a power point presentation and explained the Simulation Center.  It is sponsored by Enloe Hospital, Feather River Hospital, Chico State and Butte College.  It is used both for nurse training and for health professionals to hone their skills, with very sophisticated computer controlled dummies.  These are modern versions of the old Resci-Annies that many of us learned CPR on.  They have SimMan, SimBaby, PediaSIM and Noelle who gives birth.  After the presentation we split up and visited, with the help of Bobbie Merica (who keeps the dummies working and programs the computes for the conditions being treated), the various rooms with the dummy patients.  A very interesting program.  Of course they are looking for donations to support the program.  EDD granted them $250,000 to get the program started and to help train nurses.  The North State Health Education Foundation has donated $1,000.
