VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS

Past President Steve asked Andy Farrar, Day Meyer, Dave Jessen, Dan Davis, Clint Goss, Dave Mulqueeney and Ged Andrusaitis to introduce visiting Rotarians at their tables.  (It was so many because we were at the bar end of the country club with the small tables) Introduced were Kay Stevens, Barry Sherwood and Rick Leland of the Chico Club.

Clint introduced his guest, Greg Casey,  Dan Davis introduced his guest John Rivera.  Dar Meyer introduced his guest Dan Becket.  Dave Jessen introduced his guest Bill Orthel.

NEXT MEETING

NOW PAY ATTENTION TO THIS.  THERE WILL BE NO MEETING NEXT WEEK, DECEMBER 4TH.  The Country Club has a large party that night and no room for us.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

So the next meeting is the Christmas Party on December 11, 2007.  Dave Mulqueeney reports that we will have a Tri-Tip dinner.  There will be the usual Silent Auction, so start planning on what you will donate.  Jim Kirks has arranged for entertainment by “Sparkling Harmoney”, a women’s barber shop group, recommended by the group that sang last year.  Also, former member Larry Bradley has agreed to come and lead the Club in singing Christmas songs.

MEETING WITH CONGRESSMAN WALLY HERGER

Congressman Wally Herger will be our speaker at the meeting on December 18, 2007.  This will be a spouses/significant others night.  Please invite!  And be prepared to indicate that you have at the Christmas Party.

ELECTIONS AND NOTICE OF ELECTIONS

The December 4th meeting was suppose to be a Club Assembly to plan the Crab Feed and for elections of Club officers and a Foundation Trustee.  However, the Club Assembly was held tonight, so the Club went on to open nominations from the floor for the club officers.  None were nominated and nominations were closed so that those nominated by the nomination committed were elected for the 2008-2009 Club year.  They are:

President:                     Glenn Pulliam

President Elect

(Vice President):          Mike Crump

Secretary:                     K. R. Robertson

Treasurer:                     Steve Plume

Foundation Election:

As to the Foundation Elections, nominations were also opened for a Trustee to fill Dar Meyers’ 3 year term which expires on June 30, 2008.  Nominated were Mike Wacker and Bill Apger.  Since the December 4th meeting has been cancelled, the election will take place at the next regular meeting, December 18th.

REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

DURHAM CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

Jim Patterson is looking for volunteers to help serve hot cocoa and donuts at the Durham Christmas Tree Lighting on December 2, 2007.  The ceremony starts at 6:00 pm.  Volunteers need to be there by 5:45 p.m.  Steve Greenwood, Mike Crump, Daryl Polk and Bill Orthel have volunteered. Contact Jim at 342-1437 (home), 680-1678 (cell), or revjdp@sbcglobal.net.  It should also be noted that we contributed $500 to have the tree trimmed.

CLUB BYLAWS

K. R. Robertson passed around proposed By Laws for the Club.  He asks that you review them and submit your comments to him.  We will eventually discuss them.  We cannot find the Bylaws for the Club and need to adopt new ones.

ROTARY SURVEY

President Daryl asked that I put the following communication from the District Governor in the Rowel:

Hello Club Presidents, Secretaries and District Leaders:

We need your help. We are planning for a future District Conference, and we need Rotarian Feedback.

The District has contracted with ServiceQuality.US to conduct a survey because your opinion counts.

We ask you and every Rotarian you know, every Rotarian in your Club to take the survey.  Can you help us?

To take this brief survey, just go to:   http://rotary5160.2009.servicequality.us

Based on the results of the survey, we will go forth and find a location that meets as many of the criteria as possible.

Please pass this survey on to your Membership.  Sooner is better because we need to get started with the planning.

Thank you,

Laura Day, Lt. Gov for DG Stan Smalley.

Steve Plume was recognized for his 10th wedding anniversary in the amount of $10.

Ged Andrusaitis volunteered that he had missed last week’s meeting because he had gone to watch his daughter, Jessica play for the University of California at Santa Cruz.  He volunteered to contribute $100 to become a bell ringer.

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Roy Ellis introduced Jessica Giles and Anna Woods who introduced each other as the Student of the Month for September (Jessica) and October (Anna).

PROGRAM

The program was a club assembly to discuss plans for the Crab Feed on January 26th.  Chris Hatch reported on plans so far.  It was agreed to raise the price to $40 per ticket.  Also discussed was requiring each member to purchase and/or sell at least 4 tickets.  We lost over a $1,000 last year by not selling all the tickets.  The tickets will be distributed at the Christmas Party.
