VISITING
ROTARIANS & GUESTS
Dan
Davis and Glenn Pulliam
were asked to introduce the visiting Rotarians.
Introduced were Dan Hanson (my niece’s husband) and Brian Gray from the Paradise Club and former member Larry Bradley of the Oroville Club.

Dar Meyer’s Drawing
Of
course no Monday Night Football meeting would be complete without Dar Meyer’s
matrix upon which members purchased squares.
The winners were:
1st
Quarter – Mike Crump
2nd Quarter –
Mike Crump
3rd Quarter –
Larry Bradley
4th Quarter –
Larry Bradley
Steve
Greenwood thought he had the 1st Quarter, because Dar mis-read his own board.
I thought I had the 2nd Quarter locked up until a last minute
field goal, just before the quarter ended.
It was suggested that Larry should be told that he has to visit again to
collect his winnings.
The next meeting is the Chico Children's Choir presented by Chris Hatch. Back on Tuesday night at BCCC. There are some changes in November and December from the original schedule. Check the “Future Meetings” box.

Report from Jen
Dear
friends,
Cathy
has responded to in home therapy well.
We can see her improvement daily and we have also settled down in her
new apartment. We visited COSTCO and
IKEA with Cathy since our last update. She picked out from COSTCO a flat screen TV, a
Cathy’s
daily schedule is still pretty packed.
She generally has speech therapy first thing in the morning followed by
occupational therapy then physical therapy in the afternoon. These therapy sessions average to about 15
hours a week, Monday through Friday. Cathy
also participates in a group speech therapy session on Friday afternoons
sponsored by
Part
of Cathy’s current therapy is to integrate her back into community activities
such as shopping and cash management.
Her occupational therapist took her to Arden Fair shopping mall last
Tuesday. The purpose of this type of
therapy is to get Cathy reacquainted with an environment that has many form of
distractions; to evaluate her safety awareness; decision making skills when
faced with an array of choices. Cathy
did very well that day. She walked for
about 45 minutes and was on her feet for about one hour all together. She picked out a top and a pair of jeans that
day. We have never doubted Cathy’s
desire and ability to shop. The Saturday
before her outing with her occupational therapist, we dropped in on an Old Navy
store. She picked out 5 tops and 2 pairs
of shoes during that short visit.
Cathy
is getting stronger everyday. She takes
20 minute strolls around the neighborhood twice a day with us or with her
therapists. In fact, she is doing so
well walking; her therapist started focusing on the quality of her walk. They will start walking her in longer stride
and a faster pace. They want her to walk
faster so that she will develop a natural rhythm. This natural rhythm will prevent her from
lifting her right hip when walking and will introduce a natural swing on her
right arm. Besides the returning of her
physical strength, her wittiness has also returned. She has caught us off guard several times now
by responding to our questions in Chinese and with a mischievous grin on her
face. She knows that we pay very close
attention to what she says. I’m afraid
that she will switch to Spanish soon once we got used to her Chinese tricks.
We
are blessed and are grateful on Cathy’s rapid recovery. We know that this is a collective effort with
your support and prayers.
Thank
you,
Jen, Pam, Cathy and Grace
