The meeting at the Butte
County Dump opened with a presentation by Bill.
Using an aerial map he explained the dump operations. He explained the lining of the dump to
prevent water from entering the ground water.
He described the recovery of methane gas and future plans to use
it. Following his presentation the
members were taken on a walk to the current pit where Bill point out what he
had been talking about. Then we walked
to the “flare” where the methane gas is burned off. This is really a complicated computer
operation.
Following the tour, we
had pizza for dinner, arranged by Dan Davis.
President Daryl Polk then opened the meeting and
offered Tom Vanella the opportunity to auction the Grinder. First Tom described the various trips he had
been on and the purchase of a new motor home, all of which were protected by
the Grinder. Tom then auctioned the
Grinder. Bidding started slow but Bruce
Miller finally got it for $60.00. That
was it for the meeting.
