VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS

President Andy asked Steve Greenwood to introduce the visiting Rotarians at his table. Steve introduced Mike Drakulic of the Chico Club.  The Phil Price was asked to introduce the visiting Rotarians at his table.  He introduced Tom Knolls of the Willows Club, soon to be a member of this club.  Although he now lives in Durham, I assume he is still technically a member of the Willows Club, until we induct him.  Anyway, it worked.  Dave Mulqueeney was then called on, but there were no visiting Rotarians at his table, so it cost them $1 each.  Speaking of Dave, welcome back.

The District Rotary Foundation Family Fun Day will include held on May 5, 2007, from 11 am to 3 pm, at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum, 5848 State Highway 12, Suisun City, CA 94585.   The price is $25 per adult and $15 per child (under 2-free).  It is a western theme so come in your western clothes and bring chairs and blankets.  Also bring money for the silent auction.  Tom Vanella will obtain a case of 4 pound cans at a reasonable price for our clubs donation to the silent auction/raffle.  There will be a BBQ picnic, music, raffle prizes, a bounce house, a silent auction and train rides.

The Western Railway Museum gives visitors the opportunity to ride historic streetcars and interurban electric trains from all over California and other western states. Streetcars loop the shaded picnic grounds. Interurban cars run over the restored main line of the old Sacramento Northern Railway. With over 50 historic cars on display, railway exhibits, the Museum Store and Gift Shop and the large, shaded picnic grounds, the Western Railway Museum is ideal for family and group outings

Penny Chennel was present to win the drawing.

District/International Legislation

The balance of the meeting was used by President Andy to go over the list of proposed Rotary International legislation listed in the District Governor’s letter published in the Rowel last week.  The club expressed opposition to changes regarding meeting requirements.  There were mixed views expressed regarding e-clubs.  The members agreed with selecting Safe Drinking Water as a Rotary International project after the polio project is completed.  The members were opposed to adopting a fifth avenue of service.  Youth are adequately taken care of under existing avenues of service and Paul Harris’ creation of the avenues of service shouldn’t be tinkered with.
