VISITING
ROTARIANS:
We were in the bar end of the BCCC with the
small tables. So President consolidated
three tables for introductions. Jim
Edwards introduced the visiting Rotarians at the first tier of three
tables. He introduced Mark Stuenkel, of
the Chico Sunrise Club. Roy Ellis
introduced Roger Williams, of the Chico Club, at the second tier of three
table. Someone then asked President Andy
about his table. He said his was part of
the first tier of three tables (making it 4 tables), since he made the
rules.
REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
THE
NEXT MEETING
There will be NO MEETING on January 16th. The next meeting will be on January 23rd. PLEASE NOTE that this meeting will be
at the
Golden Valley Bank, 190
Cohasset Rd, Suite 170.
That is the end of Cohasset near
the Esplanade. Norm Larson has arranged
with Frank Spiteri to provide the dinner.
We will have a quick tour of the bank facility and then a program
presented by K. R. Robertson.
CRAB
FEED
The Durham
Rotary Crab Feed is Saturday, January 27th. All members will be
assigned a task. The work schedule is
at the end of the Rowel. Please
check what you are scheduled for and be there on time. If any member cannot attend, let Chris know
to be assigned a pre-event task.
There will
be a Crab Feed Committee meeting at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, January
18th, at the Italian Cottage on the Skyway. The whole committee must be there.
Chris Hatch
passed out tickets to sell. Go to work
and sell them. The menu will be the same
as last year. The tickets are $35.00
each. This has become our second most
important fundraiser. But it is
important that all the tickets be sold.
The profit is on the last tickets sold.
Member Transfer
Larry
Bradley is leaving our club to join an Oroville Club, since he works in
Oroville. President Andy assessed him a
“transfer fee” of $50.00.
Sergeant at Arms
With
Larry’s leaving, President Andy appointed Bruce Miller as Sergeant at Arms for
the remainder of the year.
Harvest Festival Financial Report
Dan Davis
has completed the accounting for the 2006 Harvest Festival. He reports that the net proceeds amounted to
$20,750. This is an increase of $2,041
over 2005, in spite of the problems in serving meals without the Captain Bob.
Rotary Ski Challenge
The Roitary Club of Tahoe
City presents the 31st Annual Dick Linkey Rotary Ski Challenge on
Friday, March 2, 2007. They tout this as
the largest gathering of skiing Rotarians in the world. For more information go to their web site
at: www.tahoecityrotary.org. The completed registration package must be
completed and delivered to them by February 23, 2007. They also mentioned their Tahoe Cup
Challenge at the Coyote Moon Golf Course on June 14, 2007. Register for this at: www.tcgolf,golfreg.com.
RECOGNITIONS
President
Andy contributed $10 for his birthday.
Roy
Ellis bid in the Grinder for $55.
PROGRAM
The program was Brian
Anderson, Superintendent of the Butte County Juvenile Hall. This was a program that Roy Ellis had
originally arranged for last November, but could not present. He helped Phil Price to rearrange it for
tonight. Actually, the program was
originally recommended to Roy and set up by Lindy Robinson, a former member of
Durham Rotary who volunteers at the Juvenile Hall.
Brian gave a very
interesting talk about Juvenile hall and the “inmates” in the Hall. He repeated letters and poetry written by some of these kids. He also circulated a book published by the
Butte County Department of Education containing poetry and other writings and
drawings by these children. (I would like to know from Don McNelis, where I
could obtain a copy).
Brian also discussed the
operation of the juvenile system.
Must Be Present To Win
Drawing
Dan Davis was present to win the drawing.
